PVC panels are light and inexpensive — but soft, heat-sensitive, and feel less premium. SPC wall panels with a mineral core are more dimensionally stable, more impact-resistant, and usually the better choice for bathroom, shower, and renovation work.

Waterproof, dimensionally stable, and built for wet rooms. The honest recommendation in 9 out of 10 renovations.
Higher rigidity bridges grout joints and unevenness. Fix directly onto existing tile — no chipping required.
Small areas under 2 m² with no moisture or direct sun. Noticeably lighter, considerably cheaper.
For bathroom, shower, and renovation: SPC.
If you only read one line: SPC wins on 8 out of 9 properties. Only on price per square metre is PVC cheaper.

To understand the difference between PVC and SPC wall panels, it pays to look inside. Both look similar at first glance — but their construction is fundamentally different.
PVC wall panels are often made of plain plastic with a hollow-chamber structure. That makes them light and cheap, but more prone to dents, cracks, and warping.
SPC stands for Stone Polymer Composite. At its core sits a highly compacted mix of limestone powder and stabilising binders — with a mineral content of 70–80 %. The result is a more massive, more dimensionally stable panel with a more premium feel.
It isn't the surface that decides the quality — it's the core.
On paper, material differences look small. In daily use, they make a noticeable difference — to the touch, under load, and after five years in a bathroom.
Hollow-chamber panels give way faster on impact because the surface gets pushed into the cavities. SPC stays under 0.5 mm of deformation thanks to its dense core — even under direct hits.
In rooms with direct sun or high humidity, a stable core pays off. SPC expands roughly three times less than basic plastic panels under temperature swings.
An overview from ten years of renovation experience. Not every panel suits every room — and that's exactly where SPC shows its strengths.

Bright, stony, modern — the visual language of NordPaneele in a premium bathroom.
If you're after high-quality wall panels for the bathroom or shower, you need more than a pretty surface. What matters is water resistance, dimensional stability, and a calm appearance over many years. That's exactly where SPC plays its strengths.
SPC doesn't swell and is ideal for bathrooms, showers, and wet areas.
Many customers want to modernise their bathroom without tearing out the old tiles. A rigid, dimensionally stable panel is decisive here.
SPC can be glued straight onto existing tiles. Its higher rigidity bridges unevenness and grout joints — for a calmer, more modern result.

We left the old tiles behind the bathtub in place and mounted the SPC panels straight over them. Looks brand new, finished in a weekend — no dust, no power tools, no tiler.
Before, I had PVC panels from the hardware store — they bowed slightly after two summers. The SPC panels from NordPaneele feel like real stone. Noticeably more premium.
Installed in the shower area, in daily use for eight months. Nothing swells, no mould at the joints — unlike the vinyl panels we had before.
